example of a tractor has been used for the purposes of this

Procedures
- Are children and adults prevented from riding on tractors?
- Do operators of tractors know and understand the manufacturers
instructions?
- Is the tractor maintained in accordance with the manufacturers
specifications?
- When inflating tyres, are precautions taken to prevent
injury from tyre blowout?
- When moving plant and equipment, do you watch for power
lines and maintain a safe distance?
- is the tractor only ever started from the operators seat?
- Is the seat belt adjustable and worn when the tractor
is operating?
- Are attachments fitted in accordance with the manufacturers
specifications?
- Is the tractor registered?
- Have farm hazards been assessed to allow the safe operation
of the tractor?
Equipment
- Is the tractor fitted with an approved ROPS frame or
cab?
- Are guards fitted to equipment where there is a risk of
limbs, hair or clothing being caught? (eg PTO shaft, belt
pulleys)
- Is hearing protection readily available and worn?
- Are tractor brakes functioning correctly?
- Does the steering function correctly?
- Is the seat adjustable so that controls can be operated
comfortably and safely?
- Are the work lights in good working order?
- Are steps and grab handles in good operational condition?
- Does the tractor have multi-power transmission? Are operators
aware of free wheeling effect?
- Is a fire extinguisher located on the tractor?
- Is the exhaust system sound and in good condition?
Training
- Do operators of tractors know and understand the manufacturers
operating instructions?
- Are there training and or procedures in place for...
a.)checking the coolant level?
b.)Relieving pressure in hydraulic lines before disconnecting
couplings?
c.)Running the engine in poorly ventilated sheds?
d.)Maintenance and tyre changing?
Health/Hygiene
- Is there a basic First Aid Kit available to the operator?
