Our wellbeing strategy focuses on building students’ social and emotional learning throughout the school and is anchored in our pastoral care program. Our wellbeing framework is informed by positive psychology and the work of Professor Martin Seligman, and based on five key elements described by the acronym PERMA: positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement.
We believe fostering resilience is crucial to the future success and enduring happiness of our students. Current statistics show over one in four (26%) young Australians experience a mental illness every year (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2009). We provide structural support based on the latest research available and recommendations by organisations including BeyondBlue, KidsMatter and the Black Dog Institute. Our teaching and learning programs combine quality pedagogy with positive psychology, resulting in Positive Education.
At Urrbrae Agricultural High School, we have a team of over 70 teachers in the Middle and Senior Schools delivering the best in positive educational practice to enable our students to flourish.
